PHOTOGRAPHS, COLLECTORS & COLLECTING, A New AZPA Series featuring Dr. Jeremy Rowe

February 22, 2020 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Join photographic historian Dr. Jeremy Rowe for the first in a new AZPA series about collecting and appreciating fine art photography.

Photographers make images, and many are avid collectors of other photographers’ work. Collectors acquire and covet images, and many also enjoy and making photographs themselves.

This new year-long lecture series created for Arizona Photography Alliance will explore the relationships between these two perspectives and build upon our shared interest in images.

In this first session, Dr. Rowe will start by deconstructing the collecting process, including a thumbnail overview of the history of collecting with an emphasis on early collectors and vernacular images; stories of some of the important collectors; and sources and “tips” on collecting. You’ll also see examples of the various historic formats and processes from Dr. Rowe’s extensive collection.

This event is free and open to both AZPA members and the general public with RSVP.
