Somewhat paradoxically, this non-representational image uses intentional camera movement to convey a silent cascade of earth tones while simultaneously pointing to a pulsating vibrational energy. This photograph is part of a series titled Flow States, which aims to capture the subtle energies and feeling-tones of Japanese Gardens. The project meditates on the relationship between the creative process (entering creative flow) and the introspective, meditative flow states which the meticulously curated gardens are designed to induce. The resulting photo-essay, which ranges from impressionistic to fully abstract images and includes self-reflective commentary, was featured in ICMPhotographyMagazine (March 2024).
