From the artist
Much of my photography includes imagery of plants and gardens. For decades, I have strived to reveal the mystery behind plants, utilizing black-and-white, cyanotype, and photogram processes to present botanical specimens in unexpected ways. This work is part an exploration of a new process, supported by a Research and Development Grant from the Arizona Commission on the Arts with funding from the Newton and Betty Rosenzweig Fund for the Arts, an endowment held at the Arizona Community Foundation. My research involves working with both new and existing botanical images, printing them on vellum, and backing them with 24 karat gold. I am using the glow of the gold through plant imagery to suggest the internal wonder of plants.
